Likeke Trail & Old Pali Road Often merged together, the 2-mile Likeke Trail and Old Pali Road makes a nice Kailua-Kaneohe traverse of the moist, windward forest between Pali and Likelike Highways. A graded, contour trail, Likeke takes you in and out of shallow gullies at the foot of the massive Koolau pali including a visit to a pretty waterfall. |

Makapuu Lighthouse Trail Popular with residents, this gated, asphalt road, built to maintain to the automated Makapuu Lighthouse, provides easy access to abandoned WWII sentry "pillboxes" and stunning windward coastal views from Oahu's southeastern-most point. It is also a vantage point for whale-watching. |

Kaiwa Ridge Trail Lanikai Ridge Short enough to be part of a daily workout regimine, high enough to afford spectacular panoramic views - this ridge trail climbs the hill between Bellows AFB, Lanikai, and Keolu. |

Maunawili Trail Maunawili Demonstration, Koolaupoko A nice wilderness walk constructed into the base of the windward Koolau cliffs. This contour trail offers views of waterfall chutes, the Olomana peaks, and the major peaks along the southern Koolau spine. Great trail for botanists and birders, too! |

Olomana Trail This bizarre triple-peaked geologic formation towers like a monument between Waimanalo and Kailua and is one of the most well-known of Oahu trails. The familiar windward Oahu landmark will entice any hiker but it's definitely not for the weak-hearted or acrophobic. |

Maunawili Falls Trail An all-time favorite, this very popular stream trail is easy to follow, not too strenuous to negotiate, and features one of the best deep-water pool and waterfall combination on the island. Be warned, however, it can become very crowded on holidays and weekends! |

Makapuu/Tom-Tom Trail Makapuu Trail, Makapuu Ridge A merging of two trails, this is a superb crest-walk along the southeastern section of the Koolau Range. Exposure to sun and wind is high as you huff- and-puff the brittle ascents of the Makapuu Trail, grabbing the crumbly rock for assistance. Oogle the views upon the precipitous cliffs until the Tom- Tom Trail drops you down into Waimanalo Valley. |
