Hike the most recognized landmark of Oahu known the world over. This 100-year-old trail climbs 560-feet to a spectacular viewpoint of the entire southern coast - tip to tip - of the island of Oahu.

This trail crosses through a wonderful botanical garden before following Kanealole Stream uphill into the Makiki forest. This wide, well-maintained path is perfect for novice and family hikers as well as leisure walkers and power runners.

A gloomy trail through a dark patch of Manoa Valley forest, it offers a strenuous climb to the top of Waahila Ridge.

Looking head toward Konahuanui peaks Konahuanui Trail

Towering above the Nuuanu Pali, behind Maunawili and Kailua, these two, often-clouded peaks are the tallest of the Koolau Mountains. Spectacular mountain, basin, and coastal vistas from Kaneohe to Makapuu Point await at the top while views en route include the entire Nuuanu and Manoa Valleys. But you have to beat the clouds to the top!

Lower Lulumahu Falls

Tucked into an earthen fold along the Pauoa Ridge is a hidden 70-foot waterfall. Beware, not only is this in restricted watershed but it is very confusing and the lack of a well-defined trail may be quite agitating for those in a hurry.

Maunalaha Trail Maunalaha Trail

Enjoy this tree-lined path which follows a well-defined ridgeline in the dark green shadow of the Round Top hill. A rooty journey, indeed, so watch your footing as you step over the countless juniper, pine, eucalyptus, and kukui tree roots.

A short valley hike into the far reaches of lush Manoa Valley to the widely popular waterfall and pool. While you shouldn't expect to swim any laps in the pool, it is deep enough to take a nice full-body dip.

Makiki Valley Trail Makiki Valley Trail

Contour the foothills above Makiki on a well-graded trail that connects Tantalus and Round Top Drives. This pleasant forest trail can be hiked straight in and out or can be combined with two other trails to form a loop.

A wonderful pine tree-forested ascent to the Pauoa Ridgeline and Flats above Pacific Heights. Enjoy the views of Tantalus and metro Honolulu along your way into Na Ala Hele's Honolulu Mauka Trail System.

The backbone of the Honolulu Mauka trail system, several trail junctions branch away from its dark, forested length. A wide, quiet trail hidden under a thick canopy and carpeted with roots.

Tantalus

Tantalus is the highest peak of the Honolulu Mauka Trail System. This short trail quickly climbs to the top then continues onward to the web of trails at Pauoa Flats.

One of the best and relatively quickest ways to the Koolau crest. There are great panoramic views of windward Oahu and central Honolulu from Mt. Olympus (Awaawaloa).
